The Trophy joins the SuperCup grid for 2027, with its own slot from 2028
Two seasons, two steps. Shared grid first, standalone championship second, and the first one decides how fast the second arrives.
The MX-5 Mk4 Trophy will run on the BRSCC MX-5 SuperCup grid for the 2027 season, before taking its own slot on the BRSCC roster in 2028.
That is a deliberate order, not a compromise. Launching a brand new standalone grid in year one means racing in front of half-empty garages and hoping the numbers come. Running alongside an established field means full race weekends, proper competition on track, and a championship that is worth winning from the first round.
What it means if you are racing in 2027
You share the circuit with the SuperCup's Mk3 cars. You do not share a championship with them. The Trophy is scored separately, on its own results, with its own title, its own podiums and its own standings.
The cars are different and so are the tyres. Trophy cars are Mk4s on a Goodyear hard compound control slick, with ABS, traction control and a ZF sequential gearbox. The SuperCup field is Mk3. Nobody will be in any doubt about which car is which, on track or on the timing screens.
What 2028 changes
A slot of our own on the BRSCC roster: our own grid, our own qualifying, our own races on the timetable rather than a class within someone else's.
Drivers who come in for 2027 are not joining a finished product. They are racing the first season of it.
